Expo 2024 – Physiotherapist
Statement from Simon Chambers – Physiotherapist.
“I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2009 with an accelerated MSc degree from Brighton University. Prior to that I completed a BSc in Sports Rehab at University of the West of England (UWE). I’ve always been sporty and interested in health sciences so being a healthcare professional made a lot of sense. I’m passionate about helping people understand that a healthy lifestyle and looking after ourselves is ultimately how we manage musculoskeletal problems. There is a lot of conflicting information around physiotherapy, scans, injections and surgery, and I feel it’s important to help patients understand how their condition is treated so they can make an informed decision about their care.
I have worked in many different NHS settings, including community outpatient clinics, secondary care hospital settings, and tertiary care at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. I then spent 7 years in private practice, where I ran a successful sports medicine clinic in central London. Over the last few years, I have moved back to the NHS, working in advanced practice for primary care as a first contact practitioner. This work has allowed me to advance my skills further including getting a qualification in musculoskeletal injection therapy through Hertfordshire University. I currently work in a regional lead role for Pure Physiotherapy across the London region and really enjoy the variety of my working week. As well as my clinics in Hitchin and Whitwell, the role has some business administration responsibilities as well as clinical leadership to approximately 40 first contact practitioners working across the London region”
