About the PCN

Welcome to Hitchin & Whitwell Primary Care Network!

Hitchin & Whitwell Primary Care Network (HWPCN) comprises a group of four GP practices who work collaboratively to improve patient services and staff wellbeing. The four Practices are:

• Bancroft Medical Centre
• Portmill Surgery
• Regal Chambers Surgery
• Whitwell Surgery

The PCN is in North Hertfordshire locality, within the East and North Hertfordshire “place” of the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care System.

We provide services to a population of around 47,000 patients. Some of this is done in partnership with third party providers and some of our PCN staff are employed by the PCN’s limited company, H&W Health Limited, which enables staff to work freely for all four practices.

The PCN has a Clinical Director, Dr Tara Belcher, who is responsible for the strategic leadership of the PCN. Each member practice has two GPs on the PCN board.

We also have a Business Manager, Jodie Toomey, and an Operations Manager, Dionne Notschild.

As a PCN, we are passionate about enhancing and improving the health and well-being of our community. Through collaborative efforts with our member practices and dedicated healthcare professionals, we strive to implement innovative strategies and deliver high-quality care that positively impacts the lives of our patients.
